Two Auburn University researchers, Dr. Cliff Lange, associate professor of civil engineering, and Dr. Prabhakar Clement, Arthur H. Feagin Chair of civil engineering and member of the Water Resources Committee, are working on characterizing the nature of the crude oil coming onshore in Alabama. They are conducting tests to determine how much of the dissolved compounds are in the water, how biodegradable they are and how the oil plumes spread with and without dispersants.
